The
State Palaces and Gardens (SSG - Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten)
of Baden-Württemberg were founded on 01/01/1987 on a resolution
of the Council of Ministers of the State of Baden-Württemberg
as part of the Government Office of Property and Building Construction
Administration with the mission of presenting the historical heritage
of the State to a broad public in a continuously improved manner.
The SSG is responsible for supporting over 250 state-owned palaces,
monasteries, gardens, castles and ruins.
This mission results in four main tasks:
Preserving
The task of the SSG is to preserve and care for the cultural monuments
including their appointments and furnishings with the greatest possible
diligence as a historical heritage.
Presenting
The cultural monuments are to be made accessible to a broad public.
A continuous task of the SSG is to continuously inspire enthusiasm
among new people for the cultural monuments as the site of educational
and leisure activity and to win those people for further visits.
Educating
Linked to the presentation is the task of conveying the history
of the cultural monuments and the context of their state and cultural
history in a sound, attractive, contemporary manner using modern
media.
Cooperating
The presentation of the cultural monuments is not an isolated act,
but instead is carried out in close cooperation with local and national
tourist institutions and organizations, with schools and other educational
institutions, with homeland associations and societies, with private
enterprise and with other public or private, cultural or scientific
institutions. To be able to optimally fulfill this mission, the
State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg have set the
following goals for themselves:
Experience
history through stories
A primary goal of the SSG is to offer visitors knowledge and experience
in an unmistakable atmosphere. "Experience history through
stories", the "Guided tour with the character of an adventure"
as an unmistakable brand characteristic of the State Palaces and
Gardens - both for the standard tour and for special and topical
tours, costume and children's tours.
Service and customer friendliness
The SSG sees itself as a service provider with the goal of offering
visitors from around the world the maximum possible service. In
the process, top priority is given to competence, customer friendliness
and the best possible consideration of customer requests.
Diverse
range of services
The largest possible number of continuously new classes of society
are to be addressed and filled with enthusiasm by a diverse, innovative
range of services oriented toward our target groups. These services
include attractive exhibitions, lectures, events, the website, special
and costume guided tours, the rental of rooms and free spaces and
a whole lot more.
Financing
The goal of the SSG is to earn the financial resources that must
be applied for the ongoing operation of the cultural monuments with
the greatest possible preservation of the historical substance.
